After Valentine's Day, two important things happen in Florida: baseball spring training and snake orgy season.

Nerodia fasciata fasciata, the banded water snake, doesn't want to bite you, and they have no venom - they are lovers, not fighters. And they love. A lot, at this time of year.  Along with lots of other Floridians, brown watersnakes, et al.

So much that the Lake Hollingsworth the Parks Division and the Public Works Department Lakes and Storm Water Division had to post a warning on Facebook and block off the area from tourists with caution tape.

People who don't know about snakes but do know Florida may be concerned they are water moccasins, and caution is always better if you can't identify a snake, but there is no reason to call on government to have these caught. They are just looking for love in all the right places.
