Science 2.0 fave Andrea Kuszewski has a piece in Scientific American on ways to (yes, not just hype on infomercials) increase your brain power.

Obviously the big sticking point for many is 'what is intelligence?' and she deals with that quite nicely.   When I was young the effort was on to conscript the word 'genius' so that it no longer meant intelligent and anyone could be a genius if they were proficient at something.  Blacksmith?  Genius.   Trash collector?  Genius.  When everyone is something, no one is.

Getting more intelligent really comes down to what you expect; doing things the hard way.   Don't Google, look in a book.  Do math on paper.

But there's lots more good stuff and we want to encourage Scientific American to do more articles like this and less on politics, so go read it right now.   Then read it again - you'll get a little more intelligent each time you do.
