ROTTERDAM, Netherlands, October 7, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Following its explosive growth after adding Arabic language support on BlackBerry(R) and Symbian devices in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), Nimbuzz, the new-generation mobile service providing free and low-cost calls, chat, messaging and more, announced today that it has added Arabic support for Java devices. The Arabic version will first be available for Nokia phones and other phones will follow in Q4 2010.

For the first time, millions of Java handset users in MENA can download and join Nimbuzz for free to talk, chat, message, connect and socialize in their native language with friends, family and colleagues on Nimbuzz.

Nimbuzz already supports Arabic on Symbian, BlackBerry and PC/Mac clients, which comprise a base of close to seven million Nimbuzz users in the region and make it the most popular and widely used centralized messaging app in MENA, and growing. With Arabic support on Java, all Nimbuzz users can more easily chat, text and IM with a Nimbuzz Java user without character inconsistencies.

With this announcement, Nimbuzz reinforces its commitment to delivering mass-market relevance and accessibility for mobile communications in all key and emerging markets. Nimbuzz Java client accounts for approximately 30 percent of Nimbuzz's registered user base worldwide.

In the MENA region, Nimbuzz's dramatic growth rate in the past 18 months is attributed to Arabic support for Nimbuzz's multi-award winning Symbian client. This growth includes more than 45,000 new user registrations per day in Saudi Arabia on Symbian devices only. Other countries in the area, such as Egypt, Syria and Libya, are also signing up with Nimbuzz with more than 20,000 registrations per week.

The MENA market is a well-known Nokia stronghold, but there are also large numbers of S40 Java devices in use, said Nimbuzz CEO, Evert-JaapLugt. We experienced tremendous growth in the region as we added Arabic to Symbian. By adding Arabic support to Java, we expect to see a similar rise for Nimbuzz while providing added value for Java users seeking next generation communications.
