BERLIN, June 10, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Bridging the gap between Eastern and Western game development, the UBM TechWeb Game Network, organizers of the leading Game Developers Conference(R) series (GDC), have announced Bo Wang, Vice President of Tencent Games, to keynote at the 2010 Game Developers Conference(TM) Europe. In his keynote, Bridging the East and West: The Tencent Games Story, Wang will address -- in Tencent's first lecture to Western game creators -- the success story of China's Leading Internet service provider, one of the largest online gaming companies, and its development plans for the future.

Wang's lecture will detail an insider's view of the trials and successes of one of the world's most notable, yet sometimes 'under the radar' game publishers, the local conditions for operating in China, and the potential areas where Western developers and business can work with major Chinese firms. GDC Europe returns to Cologne, Germany on August 16-18, 2010 for three days of learning, networking, and inspiration.

Founded in 1998, Tencent today is a leading provider of Internet and mobile telecommunications value-added services in China. Tencent aims to enrich the interactive online experience of Internet users in China by providing a comprehensive range of Internet and wireless services through its various online platforms, including Instant Messaging QQ, web portal QQ.com, QQ Game portal, multi-media social networking service Qzone and wireless portal. As of March 31, 2010, Tencent has more than 568 million active user accounts on its instant messaging QQ platform.

Bo Wang is the vice president of Tencent Games and is responsible for its business development. He joined Tencent in 2006 and held various management roles on corporate development and international business. Before joining Tencent, Wang gained over ten years experience in the telecommunication industry, serving companies such as Huawei Technologies and Nokia in Asia and Latin America. Wang earned his MBA from the University of Michigan in 2003 and holds a bachelor degree in computer engineering from a college in Beijing.

GDC Europe is ecstatic to welcome to the stage such a prominent representative of success in the Chinese game and Internet industry, said Frank Sliwka, GDC Europe Event Director. In light of Tencent's success in China's online gaming industry, we find Mr. Bo Wang's address both salient and timely to Western developers. Attendees will be pleased not only to gain insight into the Chinese gaming market from one of its leading firms, but will also take away ideas and inspiration on how Western developers can further improve and collaborate with the East.

Early registration for GDC Europe ends July 21, 2010. For more information on GDC Europe visit: http://www.gdceurope.com.
