- Spirent Landslide compatible with all 4G mobile standards including LTE, WiMAX, HSPA, CDMA and UMTS

Spirent Communications (http://www.spirent.com/) (LSE: SPT), a global provider of performance analysis and service assurance solutions, today announced the launch of Long Term Evolution (LTE) testing capabilities on its Spirent Landslide Mobile Packet Core Test Platform (www.spirent.com/go/landslide) making the solution the market's first performance testing tool compatible with all current wireless standards including fourth generation (4G) network infrastructure products and services. Spirent Landslide (http://www.spirent.com/go/landslide) allows customers to deploy mobile broadband networks and applications rapidly and cost-effectively with unparalleled confidence while serving the demanding needs of the next-generation subscribers.

Spirent Landslide, offering Layer 4-7 testing, is capable of emulating traffic from as many as 32,000 mobile base stations and 3.2 million simultaneous users at 120 gigabits per second and creates 'real-life' test conditions that help identify and resolve service issues prior to deployment. This approach significantly improves time-to-market for new services, reduces subscriber churn and increases the quality of experience (QoE) for subscribers using next-generation applications.

"The addition of these new wireless testing capabilities of Spirent Landslide will enable service providers and network equipment manufacturers to bring LTE deployments forward." said James Brunson, director of Converged Network Solutions at Spirent Communications (http://www.spirent.com/). "Spirent Landslide allows carriers and vendors to conduct regression and application testing in as real world an environment as possible. This ultimately enables the rollout of robust and reliable infrastructure equipment and services which will exceed subscriber expectations once they go to market."

With the addition of LTE testing capabilities, Spirent Landslide now addresses all 4G standards such including WiMAX, HSPA, CDMA and UMTS. It also allows network equipment manufacturers to test hand-offs between different networks. This is crucial as it ensures subscribers have the smoothest and most uninterrupted experience as possible and their mobile devices receive signals from multiple network sources running on different standards.

LTE is the upgrade path from existing 3G GSM networks and will spawn a new generation of wireless services such as high definition TV, mobile video conferencing and the streaming of music, gaming and video services. It is vital that network equipment manufacturers and service providers are prepared for this development and are able to launch compelling, functional and profitable services which take full advantage of their investment in LTE. Spirent Landslide with its services-centric approach to network testing offers a solution that provides unmatched end-to-end application testing across mobile packet data networks, providing true QoE measurements for the key application services like Web browsing, file transfer, streaming voice and video, and other next generation services. Additionally, with an IPSec accelerator card, Spirent Landslide now supports increased throughput of encrypted data.
