LONDON, June 20 /PRNewswire/ --

- Providing the Platform Behind the First Full Length Movie Download Store for Mobile Phones in Europe

It was revealed today that London-based company, Saffron Digital, provided the technology platform behind Motorola's video download store. The movie download store gives users the opportunity to download full feature films direct to their PC's and then side load them to mobile phones.

While the UK website ( is the first in Europe to support such functionality, the service will be extended to Germany, Italy, Spain and France.

Saffron's high quality video platform encodes and delivers the films to users in a format optimised for their mobile phone. The service was designed for the feature rich MOTO Z10 handset, however other OMA DRM 2.0 compliant handsets will also be compatible.

OMA DRM 2.0 is a digital rights management standard that prevents unintended recipients of the file accessing its contents. This is increasingly favoured by studios looking to protect their film assets.

Saffron CEO Shashi Fernando said, "This is a breakthrough service that provides a superior viewing experience for mobile users while providing peace of mind to content owners around the protection of their IP rights."

This service, which provides users with a similar experience to Apple's iTunes store, with high quality video, is a sign of Saffron's emergence as a technology leader in the mobile digital space.

The service is currently available in the UK.
