GAITHERSBURG, Maryland, December 16 /PRNewswire/ --

- Patton expands TDM, Ethernet, and Metro-Optical transport offerings by acquiring product and technology rights to the OnSite S10 product line.

Patton -- the leader in carrier-class network access, connectivity, and VoIP products -- has acquired all rights to OnSite Systems' S10 Micro-MSPP products and technologies.

Patton's OnSite S10 provides IP/Ethernet service migration while interfacing to any SONET/SDH transport network with integrated QoS, and TDM switching. The OnSite acquisition broadens Patton's edge-access multiservice offering for service providers, carriers, and mobile operators.

As the network evolves, core technologies consistently push towards the access network, said Scott Whittle, Vice President Product Management. OnSite developed key game-changing technology that offers a compelling solution for metro-transport migration. We are excited to address the established OnSite customer base by making available the existing stand-alone S10 series and interface modules while immediately integrating the technology into our ForeFront Multiservice Access Platform.

Patton's ForeFront(TM) line of scalable carrier-class access platforms deliver narrowband, broadband, and triple-play multimedia services for next-generation networking. ForeFront enables deployment of Patton's TDM, packet, dedicated xDSL, optical SONET/SDH and dial-up system cards in a single, managed chassis.

Today we've acquired the OnSite S10, said Burton A. Patton, Patton's Executive Vice President. We will continue serving customer TDM and IP requirements as they evolve. We are pleased to strengthen our position as a full-service network-access equipment provider by adding metro-optical products and solutions. The acquisition expands Patton's presence among carriers, cable MSOs, and mobile operators as their needs converge toward packet-based transport and delivery of data, voice and video.

Patton's OnSite S10 SDH/SONNET network element enables migration, interfacing and networking between carrier Ethernet and SONET/SDH transport. The S10 can be used as an SDH terminal multiplexer or add-drop Mux. It provides non-blocking TDM switching, and Ethernet-over-SONET/SDH capabilities with VCAT/LCAS plus VLAN QoS facilities. TDM and Packet services can be used simultaneously and seamlessly switched.

The S10 offers integrated redundant metro-transport capabilities with linear 1+1 protection switching, ring ADM, and SNCP/I and /N configurations. Multiport line interfaces include STM-1, fast Ethernet, T1/E1, and DS3/E3. The S10 offers AC or dual-redundant DC options, and integrated EMS for network management and control.
