- South East Asia is a Key Focus for Network Expansion

Tata Communications, a leading provider of the new world of communications, today announced the expansion of its global MPLS (Multi- Protocol Label Switching) services into key South - East Asian destinations, including the Philippines, Malaysia, Taiwan, and Thailand - providing rest of the world connectivity to the customers conducting business in these key markets.

The MPLS expansion to these key destinations will add to Tata Communications' existing over 120 PoPs (Points of Presence) within India and its network presence in China, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, Australia, and Sri Lanka as well as the company's wide global network of international PoPs, Strategic alliances and IPSec functionality.

As a leading MPLS provider in Asia, Tata Communications now offers customers access to a major network of owned cables, ensuring full scalability, redundancy, and vast global reach to the Middle East, Europe, Americas and soon to Latin America. Tata Communications MPLS reach spans over 65 countries and with Extended Access Service, a service that includes broadband access and IPSec integration, this global reach expands to over 150 countries.

As Asia emerges as a world leader in high growth industry sectors such as manufacturing, telecommunications, and tourism, enterprises need to seamlessly communicate and collaborate with geographically dispersed employees, customers and partners. Tata Communications has a comprehensive Global VPN Services portfolio that provides customers flexible solutions to meet their diverse needs. These services include flexible access options, a wide range of port speeds, and traffic prioritization through multiple classes of service. The customer can choose from a host of other networking solutions, including Managed Security, Managed Hosting and Storage, and TelePresence to avoid multiplicity of vendors for different network needs.

With these robust service offers and continued network expansion into key emerging markets like Southeast Asia, Tata Communications is emerging as a leading global provider customers can trust to provide seamless solutions to meet their vast communications needs, said Richard Knott, Vice President, Enterprise Sales and Managed Services for Tata Communications.

Other significant initiatives in the Asia region include the construction of the TGN-Intra Asia cable system that offers a unique design, avoiding earthquake zones around Taiwan. This cable system is provisioned to have direct link from Singapore to Japan and Hong Kong; and provide inroads to new emerging markets such as Vietnam and the Philippines. Once the system is operational, its express fiber route between Singapore and Japan will offer solutions with the lowest latency.
