BEIJING and BARCELONA, Spain, February 10 /PRNewswire/ --

TD Industry Association will showcase the latest development of TD-LTE on services, products, and cutting-edge technologies from China Mobile, Ericsson, Huawei, ZTE, Datang, Nokia-Siemens Networks, Alcatel-Lucent, Potevio, Agilent, UT Starcom, Spreadtrum, MTK and Innofidei during the 2009 MWC in Barcelona, Feb. 16-19, 2009. Visitors will have a chance to see the live demo of TD-LTE in the TDIA booth at AV21, Fira Montjuic Barcelona.

After years of development, TD-SCDMA has made rapid progress. At present, over 100 enterprises have been engaged in RD of TD-SCDMA equipments, forming a complete industry chain and technical team covering standards, product development, market promotion, technical research and testing. Following the issuance of 3G licenses in China early 2009, TD-SCDMA is expected to provide 3G services with China Mobile in 238 cities by the end of 2009.

TD-LTE, the next evolution for TD-SCDMA is also put on the agenda. 3GPP's standards work for TD-LTE was completed by the end of 2008, after which interoperability and field trials would commence. Based on TD-SCDMA mature industry ecosystem, TD-LTE is strongly supported by the TD-SCDMA industry chain. The target of the TD-LTE is to enhance the capabilities of coverage, service providing, and mobility supporting of TD-SCDMA. To save the investment and make full use of the network infrastructure available, the design of TD-LTE take into account the features of TD-SCDMA and its evolved system, and keep TD-LTE compatible to TD-SCDMA and its evolved system back forward to ensure a smooth migration.

TD Industry Association (TDIA) was founded in October 2002. It has been committed to promoting TD-SCDMA, TD-LTE technology and the development of TD-SCDMA industry and TDD-based follow-up evolution technology and industry globally.
