CAMBRIDGE, Massachusetts, June 3 /PRNewswire/ --

VT MAK, (MAK), a company of VT Systems Inc (VT Systems), is pleased to announce that company founder and chief executive officer Warren Katz will be a keynote speaker at the "Future Trends in Simulation" conferences at Eurosatory in Paris, France. Katz's presentation, titled "Industry Trends - COTS and Simulation" will discuss the rise of COTS (Commercial Off The Shelf) tools in the defense simulation market. Katz's presentation is on Tuesday, June 17 at 1600 hours and MAK's solutions will be showcased at the Antycip Simulation booth U210 in the exhibition.

A noted industry advocate of open interoperability standards and commercial business models in defense procurement, Katz also has expertise in collaboration between the defense and video game industries. He was a six-term chairman of the Simulation Interoperability Standards Organization, the international not-for-profit consortium that manages the process for developing open interoperability standards for synthetic environments. Katz co-founded MAK Technologies with John Morrison in 1990. The company was acquired by VT Systems of Alexandria, Virginia in December 2006 and changed its name to VT MAK in February 2008. Katz holds dual bachelor's degrees in mechanical and electrical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

"The modeling and simulation market is in the midst of a disruptive transition from low-volume, high-priced simulations that are custom-made for each application, to a high-volume, low-priced market of interoperable COTS products. This explosion of simulation deployment will have a similar effect to what the PC did to the mainframe, the car did to the train, and GPS did to the map."
