About Fred I am a semi-retired Comparative Physiologist. I earned my Ph.D. degree from the University of Minnesota in 1965. I was tenured at the University of Sourth Dakota, University of Saskatchewan, and the University of North Dakota.

I stopped full-time teaching and research in 1995 and moved to Newport, Oregon. I found it difficult for me to get off the academic treadmill and taught part time at Oregon Coast Community College and currently lecture for Oregon State University's Hatfield Marine Science Center in Newport, OR. I am found in Google Scholar under the name Frederick G Duerr. I am 81 years old, but am not done yet! I am presently writing a History of Biology, a Natural History of Life, a Newsletter, and Blog.

I have published about 28 research papers and recently published a small book...
