Quantum Econobiology
About Morgan I am Associate Professor of Microbiology & Immunology, Biomedical Engineering, and Computer Science at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. My lab focuses on an integrated, cross-disciplinary approach to microbial and eukaryotic systems (some might even call it Systems Biology). We work on problems spanning the development of antibiotic resistance in Pseudomonas aeruginosa to annotation of the Human Genome. My training includes degrees in Physics and Computer Science, along with training in bioinformatics, proteomics, and biology. I've also been involved in several businesses, including a bike shop devoted to electric, cargo, and transportation bikes. I have recently started a website and blog dedicated to helping people with their science careers by providing practical howto advice on grant writing, managing labs, paper writing, and more. http://morganonscience.com/ Lastly, I enjoy thinking about the big picture stuff, such as the meaning of existence, the nature of the universe, the nature consciousness, and the interplay of people in economic systems.
