- Integration With NParchive Allows Structured Data to be Preserved and Queried
Directly on EMC Centera
Clearpace, the data archive store specialist, http://www.clearpace.com today
announced it has completed integration between NParchive and EMC Centera content
addressed storage (CAS). EMC Centera is the world’s most simple,
affordable and secure repository for information archiving. It is a
purpose-built, software-driven storage platform that provides a myriad of new
capabilities for unlocking the business value from unchanging or infrequently
changing digital assets such as historical data from application databases.
NParchive is a purpose built software repository for structured or
semi-structured data which has been integrated with EMC Centera. This
integration means that the NParchive repository can sit seamlessly on Centera.
Typical data sets would be from any packaged or custom database application
(Oracle, DB2, Peoplesoft ++) and use cases could be application retirement or
archiving of aged data amongst others.
The integration of NParchive with Centera allows inactive relational data from
any database or log file to be stored on the Centera storage platform while
preserving full SQL access through industry standard reporting tools. This new
capability extends mutual customers’ uses of Centera, using it to deploy
structured data archives alongside existing email and file archives.
The NParchive integration with Centera delivers real value to end-user
organisations planning database archiving or application retirement initiatives,
says John Bantleman, CEO of Clearpace. With this joint solution our mutual
customers can preserve historical data from production or legacy applications on
the Centera platform while keeping that data fully accessible. NParchive’s
extreme data compression which can exceed 40:1 allied with zero upfront design
and low-touch ongoing maintenance dramatically reduces the cost of managing
legacy data. The bottom line is that NParchive looks, smells and feels like a
traditional database or data warehouse on the Centera platform without any of
the headache or cost of managing data in those complex environments.
Andrew Collins, EMC Global Alliances Director, said, The integration between
EMC Centera and Clearpace’s NParchive benefits joint customers who are
deploying application archiving or retirement initiatives by unlocking the value
in inactive relational data from any database or log file, while lowering costs
and making it easier to manage and share this information.
The integration of NParchive with Centera uses the eXtensible Access Method
(XAM) interface, providing a simple and standards-based approach for deploying
structured data archives. This enables simple and rapid deployment of the joint
solution benefiting mutual partners and end-users.
Clearpace Software Ltd is a software company that provides data archive store
solutions for the long-term retention of structured data within the enterprise.
Clearpace has become a pioneer in the database archiving market by providing
archive stores that are the optimal destination for inactive data that has been
removed from production systems.
The Clearpace NParchive software enables organisations with large and growing
data estates to massively reduce the cost and complexity of storing historical
information while making archived data easily accessible for regulatory, legal
and business purposes. Using NParchive, companies are able to store as much as
60x more historical information on commodity hardware. Clearpace serves a
variety of industries, including Financial Services, Telecommunications, Energy,
Utilities, Pharmaceuticals, Retail and the Public Sector.
