SYDNEY, August 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Optenet, a Spanish information security technology multinational, announces the launch of operations in Australia with the opening of a new office in Sydney.

Led by Jean-Philippe Fortier, Country Manager for Australia, this opening is part of the company's strategic plan and marks the beginning of Optenet's operations down under. From there, the Spanish multinational will market its new security solutions for telcos, managed security providers and enterprises.

According to Jean-Philippe Fortier: "Australia is taking giant steps towards protecting children and families from illegal Internet content. Optenet has had great success with its Web/Wap filtering solutions in Europe and Latin America and we are bringing our experience to this part of the world. But this is only the beginning since we will also be present in MMS filtering, antispam and antivirus solutions for ISPs, Carriers and Corporations."

Optenet Web Filter PC was part of NetAlert child protection programme and the company is a member of the Internet Industry Association, the Australian Internet Industry Association, with over 200 members, including telcos, service providers, web developers and hardware manufacturers.

At present, the company provides protection for over 75 million users worldwide through over 50 telecom operators such as Telefónica, Orange and O2, which offer security services to their customers using Optenet's technology. Likewise, Optenet has major international accounts with companies like Hilton, McDonalds, Daimler AG and over half of all companies making up the IBEX 35, Spain's main stock market index. On top of that, Optenet's product suite, which includes web filtering, antispam and antivirus protection, is the most sophisticated and effective solution available thanks to the comprehensive integration of its filtering service modules.

The flexibility, high-performance and customisability of Optenet's products enables service providers and telcos to generate extra revenues through added value services linked to their connectivity offering. Optenet's filtering systems for ISPs and operators provide a foundation for protecting children on the Internet, essential to ensuring their safety at home and at school.

In the corporate sector, Optenet's range of solutions for enterprises enables security policies to be managed from a single console, eliminating costs and the complexity involved in reliance on multiple devices based on security hardware and management consoles. In this way, Optenet's technology provides the ability to centrally manage all policies while still offering customised solutions that meet the needs of each user.
