LONDON, July 20, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- On Saturday 17th July, the time had finally arrived for Double-Marathon Mayhem!! ...it was ChallengeQ!!

Four athletic Qedis people took on the challenge of each running 54 miles from the Qedis Maidenhead office to the Qedis office in Covent Garden, all in an attempt to raise money for Camden-based youth charity, Music and Change UK (MAC-UK). The 54 mile run started at 4am in Maidenhead, followed the Thames path and arrived into central London at 4pm.

Being Management Consultants and not professional runners, this really was an incredible feat! Alongside this, others in the company accepted a number of sponsored sports challenges, including cyclists who rode 75 miles (from London to Maidenhead and back again), a group who ran a marathon-distance relay, a team who cycled 20 miles, individuals who ran 5k and 10k distances as well as a Thames Path walk that took people 13miles along the river.

MAC-UK uses music to help some of London's most marginalised young people and the NHS mental health provision. The aim is to engage with challenging young people at risk of offending or engaging in anti-social or gang-related activity, and provide them with 'street therapy' in their local community.

Qedis has been working with MAC-UK over the past year providing pro-bono consultancy services, and continues to find new ways to raise awareness of the charity, supporting its growth and the good work it carries out.

ChallengeQ ended with a culmination of all activities in London's Regents Park, as each group were applauded reaching the finishing line! There was a softball tournament (for those who could still muster up the energy to stand), a picnic with food and drinks plus a number of school sports-day style races for those who brought families along to enjoy the occasion. Simon Holden, the Qedis consultant organiser of the event and one of the 54-mile runners, said There were a few sore bodies on Saturday afternoon when everyone had reached the park, but we had achieved our aim in raising over GBP4,400 for MAC-UK, the cost to put one young person through their Programme for a year. Roll on ChallengeQ 2011...!
