HELSINKI, May 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Finnish software company Reaktor Innovations has been selected as the best workplace in Europe. At a gala held in London yesterday, Reaktor was announced as the European winner of the Great Place to Work study in the series for small and medium companies. 1,250 companies from 15 European countries participated in the study.

Reaktor's approach is in many ways unique. The company's business operations are based on doing everything as well as possible. The employees are expert professionals in their field and the company contributes an exceptional amount of effort into the skills and well-being of its staff.

"Our work is based on human values: with us, people always come first. The only way to succeed is to keep the best experts in the field committed to the company. A successful expert organisation cannot operate from an ivory tower or behind closed doors," says Reaktor's CEO Vesa Lauronen.

The management's human approach is put into practice, for example, by being flexible and supporting the employees in their different life situations and by employing standard working hours which is rare in the field.

"Reaktor's management practices display strong and comprehensive know-how in expert management. With Reaktor, it is not just the individual things that fall into place. Their whole management philosophy goes back to the individual," says the CEO of Great Place to Work Institute Finland Asta Rossi.

Reaktor took part in the study because the company management wanted to get direct feedback on their management practices from the employees and examine how contented the staff is in comparison with other companies. Being ranked as the best workplace in Europe came as a bit of a surprise to the company, but they have set their aims even higher.

"This is quite an achievement. The thanks go to all our Reaktorians. However, we believe things can always be done better. Our objective is to become the best expert company in the world," says Lauronen.

Reaktor Innovations is an IT consultant company specialising in demanding software solutions. The company is a pioneer in applying Agile Methods in software development. The successful personnel management is also reflected in Reaktor's economic figures. Founded in 2000, the company has had profitable operations and internal financing throughout its history.
