    Another Unscientific Fluoridation Birthday

On January 25, 1945, sodium fluoride was slowly poured into Grand Rapids , Michigan ’s public water supply to prove that fluoridation reduces children’s tooth decay. Five years into the experiment, things weren’t going as expected. Cavities declined equally in the non-fluoridated control city of Muskegon too.

So to blur the truth or prove expectation, Muskegon was fluoridated also. Children’s teeth were checked but not adults or other body parts.

Sixty-four years later, research exposes fluoride’s undesirable health effects to human organs and systems that weren’t considered in the 1940’s.  Many fluoridation-supporting organizations are quietly covering their legal aspects while publicly proclaiming “no problem; drink up.”

The American Dental Association admits in its Fluoridation Facts booklet “decreased fluoride removal may occur among persons with severely impaired kidney function who may not be on kidney dialysis.”

The National Kidney Foundation withdrew its fluoridation support after a lawyer contacted them about their legal responsibility to tell the truth. They now advise that individuals with Chronic Kidney Disease be notified of fluoride’s danger to them.

The kidney-impaired retain more fluoride and risk skeletal fluorosis (an arthritic-type bone disease), fractures and severe enamel fluorosis, which may increase the risk of dental decay, reported the U.S. National Research Council in 2006.

The Centers for Disease Control concedes that fluoride’s beneficial effects are topical and not systemic, meaning there’s really no good reason to swallow fluoride.  Swallowing fluoride creates dental fluorosis – white spotted, yellow, brown and/or stained teeth – now afflicting up to 48% of school children, up to 4% moderate/severe, according to the CDC

The CDC’s 2001 fluoride recommendations says,  "The laboratory and epidemiologic research that has led to the better understanding of how fluoride prevents dental caries indicates that fluoride's predominant effect is posteruptive and topical ... Fluoride works primarily after teeth have erupted,..."

As of 2006, both the ADA and the CDC advise that fluoridated water not be mixed into concentrated infant formula because it unnecessarily puts babies at high risk of developing dental fluorosis.

    So what’s happening today?

Grand Rapids children are showing high rates of tooth decay and dental fluorosis.

According to the Grand Rapids Press, one pediatric dentist said in 2007 “…we see children under the age of 2 with active decay…Rather than just a few cavities, we're seeing a lot of cavities. It's not unusual to see a child with 8 to 10 cavities."

    Detroit Michigan is also fluoridated.

A study shows that, although fluoridated tap water is the most consumed item, 83% of low-income Detroit African-American adults, 14-years-old and over, have severe tooth decay.  Almost all Detroit ’s African-American 5-year-olds have cavities, most of them go unfilled.

In fact, there are cavity crises in all fluoridated cities and states because 80% of dentists refuse Medicaid patients and over 108 million Americans lack dental insurance.

Our food supply has become so fluoride-polluted from water fluoridation and fluoride containing pesticide residues that the  USDA had to create a little-publicized database of food fluoride content to help Americans tally their daily fluoride intake, which they still aren't aware they need to do to protect their bones and children's teeth.

The National Institutes of Health just gave a $3 million grant to a New Jersey researcher to find out why some children get dental fluorosis from fluoridated wataer.  The ongong Iowa Fluoride Study has gotten millions of dollars over the years using Iowa children as guinea pigs to see how fluoride is adversely affecting their teeth and bones .

Stopping fluoridation seems like a more common sense approach to the growing harmful fluoride saturation of the American public.

tgey know darn well that it is a drug and reducec IQ as well as makes people sick, this is done on perpose and those responsable neesd to go to jail as a warning to others that want to keep us docile, this is rediculas, poisoning childern, grrrrrr

This article is excellent, as is all of Ms. Stride's work that I have seen. I've recently written on the same subject in my blog at : blog.fluoridefreeaustin.com. Please check it out!

Fluoride from water incorporates, after continuous longterm drinking, into bone to thousands of times that in the water. It is a pathologic process that is linearly related to water level (not curvilinear) and is neither saturable nor reversible, as are true for all physiologic effects of mineral nutrients. Lifetime drinking leads to accumulated levels that cause significant bone weakening. The U.S. now, after 60 years of consuming fluoride, has an epidemic of hip fractures in elderly people who commonly perish while waiting for bone to heal that won't heal. Fluoride also incorporates into brain tissue, and half of all swallowed fluoride is retained permanently (National Research Council, Report on Fluoride in Drinking Water, 2006, free to read at www.fluoridealert.org). This is not the fault of Grand Rapids, but that of promoters who originaly mistook teeth effects caused by calcium (required to build stong teeth resistant to decay) as though caused by fluoride in natural hard waters in the Southwest. Fluoride only exerts adverse effects in biology, including fluorotic abnormal enamel in developing teeth. See www.fluoridealert.org. And search 'Toxicity of Fluoridated Water' for free pdf download for other effects and the FDA petition to ban this non-FDA-approved drug. It violates drug law to drug people without informed consent and the FDA requires a permit for any entity to formulate chemicals for human ingestion, no matter the benefit, which all water districts still violate by mixing fluosilicic acid hazardous waste with caustic soda for injection. The FDA has ruled fluoride is not a mineral nutrient and in municipal water is unregulated use of a drug.
