Over 16 million people displaced in one country, millions displaced in another, due to deforestation on the banks of their rivers and almost all the lakes world over especially in developing world or in semitropical and tropical conditions and especially fragile ecosystem are gone. Europe suffered over 30 degree for weeks with erratic winter, Russia once know for its cold is burning with heat wave, almost millions of people are suffering world over. I dont know what is green house effect and how does it influence the global warming ( scientific debates on yes or no about this ) but I know if plants are not there human beings cant survive. Lay more emphasis on preventing deforestation , promote plantations on the hills river banks and people will live.
Its pity that we destroy the forests on the banks of the rivers, remove trees on the hills, and allow silt to accumulate in the lakes. All this leads to destroying water bodies. It's fury of nature that kills people and makes them homeless world over.
When people will learn to love plants and protect them if they want to protect their homes and environment.
The logic behind the worship of Goddess of wealth Laxmi in Indian mythology is simple.
Lotus grows in water ponds. If you need to worship you need to bring lotus. Lotus is found in water bodies only. If you keep your water bodies of the village or town to get lotus to worship
the water body shall provide you wealth and keep you rich.
People have been wondering where the Gulf of Mexico oil has gone. Some years ago
our friend Dr Banwari Lal from TERI New Delhi has been working on some microorganisms that degrade the oil by eating it or metabolizing it . Perhaps , there could be attack by such bacteria or microorganisms which have eaten or metabolized the Gulf oil. It would be interest to confirm or refute this theory so tha we are better prepared for future happenings. If you will ride the horse so will you fall also. So better be prepared.
Nature has evolved all strategies to combat heat and drought. Plants which look like stones store carbondioxide during night time in their cell vacuole in the form of malate derived from dark form of Phosphoenolpyruvate carboxylase which fixed carbondioxide during dark in cytoplasm.
During day time this malate is transported to cytoplasm again from the vacuole where it is decarboxylated and the carbondioxide thus released is fixed again in regular fashion.
This is done to keep stomata closed during day time when temperatures are high and it could harm the plants to transpire too much . However malate has now been found to have manyfold functions in plants.

the city of Eieffel tower as is written on an inscription kept in Notre Dame reminds me of Indian tradition , Japanese tradition role of plants in many religious ceremonies acorss the world.
