DERRY, New Hampshire and COLOGNE, Germany, March 12 /PRNewswire/ --

Cedar Point Communications, a worldwide leader in integrated Voice over IP (VoIP) switching technologies for service provider and enterprise telecommunications, and NetCologne, one of the largest regional carriers in Germany, today announced an agreement that marks a major milestone for Cedar Point in Europe.

NetCologne is utilizing Cedar Point's SAFARI C(Cubed) Multimedia Switching System for the delivery of VoIP throughout the Cologne region, where NetCologne serves more than 500,000 customers today. The deployment represents a significant expansion of Cedar Point's footprint in the German and European markets, and follows the successful trial and simplified integration of SAFARI C(Cubed) into the NetCologne network.

The agreement was finalized with NetCologne by Cedar Point Europe Communications GmbH, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Cedar Point Communications, in cooperation with bridacom, a joint venture of Wilhelm Sihn Jr. GmbH & Co. KG (WISI) and IET.HOLDING GmbH (IET). bridacom serves as a value-added partner for Cedar Point Europe, providing sales, planning, delivery, installation, integration, configuration and other technical services, as well as significant business relationships in the European cable market through its connections with WISI and IET.

"Although quality and reliability of service for our customers are our highest priorities, it was also important that we have a solution that would minimize integration and operational cost and complexity," said Karl Heinz Zankel, managing director of NetCologne. "Throughout our trials, SAFARI C(Cubed) consistently delivered the performance we require to provide our customers with the best possible voice service."

"NetCologne has established a well-deserved reputation as a service provider that values innovation and high levels of commitment to service excellence," said Michael Brunsveld, vice president for Cedar Point Europe Communications GmbH. "Together with bridacom, we look forward to helping NetCologne achieve rapid success in their initial rollouts of VoIP, and to working with them to deploy SIP-based business service offerings that will generate new revenues in the future."
