LONDON, September 17, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Northrop Grumman Corporation's Europe-based air traffic management subsidiary, Northrop Grumman Park Air Systems, has been awarded a multi-million dollar contract by the African air navigation safety agency Agence pour la Securite de la Navigation Aerienne en Afrique et a Madagascar (ASECNA) for a continent-wide upgrade and renewal of their instrument landing systems.

Northrop Grumman Park Air Systems proposed their Normarc 7000B instrument landing system (ILS) in an international tender in which all players in the industry participated. ASECNA is a world-leading agency for air navigation security and selected the Normarc 7000B ILS for its unparalleled performance and reliability. The agency has a large number of Normarc 7000 ILS already in service throughout the continent.

The ILS will be installed and commissioned by French partner company GTIE Air Defense of the Vinci Group on a turnkey basis. The systems will be installed and commissioned over a five-year period at 13 different airports and sites in Africa.
