"For this event EANTC aimed to bring together best in class companies to demonstrate the future of Carrier Ethernet networks and services," said Carsten Rossenhoevel, managing director of EANTC. "Spirent played an important role in testing and emulating significant aspects of this 'real world' subscriber-centric Carrier Ethernet network showcase."

Spirent provided engineering expertise to support testing of MEF Ethernet services over MPLS, PBB-TE and T-MPLS metro/aggregation networks. Spirent TestCenter, used at the event, validated the interoperability of a number of technologies including Link Aggregation, Service OAM and Link OAM. Furthermore, Spirent TestCenter tested the latest addition to Carrier Ethernet - Provider Link State Bridge (PLSB) - a pre-standard implementation of the IEEE 802.1aq (Shortest Path Bridging). Other test areas included Ethernet OAM, Connectivity Fault Management (CFM) and 802.3ah Ethernet in the First Mile (EFM).

"Spirent TestCenter offers an unmatched combination of the latest Carrier Ethernet protocols such as PLSB with out of the box usability that gives our customers a competitive advantage by enabling them to bring products to market more quickly and with higher quality," said Ken Van Orman, Senior Product Marketing Manager at Spirent Communications. "The EANTC CEWC Interoperability event compresses a very complex test cycle into two weeks and by doing so, really highlights Spirent TestCenter's capabilities."

This EANTC Interoperability Showcase is the most advanced public Carrier Ethernet multi-vendor showcase ever staged with 28 leading international vendors participating in a test event representing more than 90% of the Carrier Ethernet switch and router market share worldwide according to Heavy Reading. Leading router, switch, Multi-service CPE, and mobile backhaul vendors as well as provisioning, fault management, and emulator/analyzer vendors highlighted their interoperable solutions for the future of Carrier Ethernet services, transport and aggregation. The white paper detailing the particulars of this interoperability event is available at http://www.eantc.com/cewc2008.

Spirent TestCenter will also be on demonstration at the Interoperability Event Showcase at Carrier Ethernet World Congress in Singapore, November 12-14. For more information visit http://www.spirent.com/portal/technology.cfm?media=8&ws=356&ss=346&stype... =1
