LONDON, May 17, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- dealchecker.co.uk has launched its first ever contest in support of Sun Awareness Week; by sending in a picture of their tanning disaster, participants can win a holiday for two worth GBP600.

Online holiday specialist dealchecker.co.uk ( http://www.dealchecker.co.uk/) has launched its first ever competition, which will see a winner walk away with a holiday for two worth up to GBP600. The contest is centred on Sun Awareness Week 2011, the British Association of Dermatologists' campaign to bring attention to the risks of skin cancer. Participants can enter by taking a picture of their sunburn nightmare and sending it to likealobster@dealchecker.co.uk.

The contest opened on the 6th of May and will run until midnight on the 17th of June - updates will be posted regularly on dealchecker.co.uk's blog (http://blog.dealchecker.co.uk/) throughout the six week period. The winner will get the chance to return to the sunshine with a free holiday for two selected from the 'Real Deals' section of the company's website.

According to dealchecker.co.uk, this contest is an opportunity to bring attention to an important cause. Alex Saint, CEO of dealchecker.co.uk, comments: "Sun Awareness Week 2011 is a crucial initiative by the British Association of Dermatologists: sunburns cause lasting damage and we want to encourage everyone to cover up with sunscreen and limit their exposure. We hope that this contest will help raise awareness of this potentially life-saving campaign, and that people will take care the next time they head off on holidays to Lanzarote ( http://www.dealchecker.co.uk/cheap-holidays/lanzarote.html) and other sunny destinations."

The contest has already received dozens of entries, and Saint expects it to be a great success. He comments: "We have already received a large amount of pictures through our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/dealchecker), many of which are truly outrageous. While this is all in good fun, it is quite clear that everyone participating is hoping to avoid such nasty burns in the future."
