I discuss science outreach, the media, the discovery of the Higgs boson and its impact on laypersons, and a more technical issue about the origin of mass. After reading some of A. Pais - Inward Bound, it might be useful to explain to the audience that not too long ago physics was in a very confused state -what with electrons hiding inside protons, and a complete aversion to any kind of new particles, and trying to appeal to classical models. Amazing how far things have come in such a short time.
