Some science sites are boring, some sites are difficult to navigate. Some don't write much about science at all. We cross all political boundaries and most cultural ones. We have Republicans, Democrats, religious people, atheists, straight white guys and transsexuals of every nationality. And we have a sense of humor. As I write this, the most popular article on the front page is Women In Bikinis Make Men Spend Stupidly - On Everything, accompanied, ironically, by a picture of Cheryl Tiegs wearing a one-piece bathing suit (hey, good luck finding creative commons supermodels in actual bikinis.) So what makes me write this blog saying we confuse Google? Well, we have some new ad campaigns starting this evening at midnight, one provided by our friends at LiveScience and one from Burst, and I was testing some backup tags and I saw something I had never seen before - proof that our combination of science plus religious, cultural and political tolerance is unique, because it confuses even a multi-billion dollar search company, who in backup tag testing determined that the most appropriate ad for our site at the moment is: Yes, scientists here are apparently all single men who are tolerant and even welcoming of religious women as long as they look like supermodels. Political persuasion unimportant. I couldn't have made our net any wider with a Japanese fishing boat.
