Arthur Eddington and others tried numerous times to test Einstein's general theory of relativity by photographing the stars which appear in the sky next to the eclipsed sun.  Einstein's theory predicted a particular change in their apparent position.  To the ability of anyone to measure this effect, all observations have been in accord with Einstein's theory.  My own work on and interest in theories of everything, both my own, and others, has as a fundamental assumption that Einsteins theory is exactly correct.  It probably is, however, no one gets a pass.  No matter who the scientist is we test their theories multiple times.

Carvings in the stone of mountains are what a civilization does for it's more revered leaders and heroes.  This is because stone monuments, in particular carvings in rock faces can last for tens of thousands of years. Along with Mount Rushmore in South Dakota, Stone Mountain in Georgia is just such a carving.  Sign  this petition if you don't want to be defined forever by the face of traitors arguably worse than Benedict Arnold, who fought for a version of slavery which was more dehumanizing than even that practiced by George Washington.  

Quantum entanglement is a well observed but not well understood phenomena.  The frontier in this area has been to entangle systems at greater and greater distances.  Theoretically however it is poorly understood.  Susskind and Maldacena proposed the ER=EPR conjecture, which to oversimplify, states that entangled particles are connected by tiny wormholes(Maldacena and Susskind)  In this brief blog post I present a simple proof that the “non-locality” that experimentalist write of, and Susskind conjectured about solving via wormholes, can be explained with standard quantum mechanics and standard relativity.   What is new here is how we look at the spaces involved.

 

Anonymous now has more credibility than all four big US cable news channels and the big newspapers combined.  This is due to the fact that while they and their sources are …anonymous.. they manage to find verifiable information.  This claim is different.   IF this is true there are only TWO ways NASA could have found proof of extraterrestrial life.  SETI has intercepted a convincingly strong source of intelligently engineered radio from a known habitable zone Kepler planet.

Open science communication is not a new idea but the idea of doing the composition of a paper on a cloud based, search indexed, public platform where anyone can see how the sausage is made is.   Authorea is just such a platform and I am using it to put the finishing touches on a paper dealing with a true theory of everything (a field of study littered with corpses so suffice it to say I may well be wrong like everyone else who has tried.)  the main topic of this blog is to be the act of publishing on Authorea or a similar platform vs traditional LaTeX editing.
