The botanical garden of Justus Liebig Universitat where I visited with my daughter when she was less than two years old in 1976 for the first time has attracted me again and again.

Some of the widest collections of plants are there

During course of evolution (  if you believe in theory of evolution ) cycads were once called as living fossil . Most of the plants of this group became extinct and fossil. However when Cycas was discovered from China where it is found on places of worship as in Japan also, it was named a living fossil.
The plant belong to group Gymnosperms or  naked seeded plants. The seeds are not enclosed inside the ovary and are borne on tips of highly reduced leaves known as megasporophylls on the female plants . The sexes are separate. Male cones and female megasporophylls are borne on different plants.
It gives a wonderful look to see the seeds directly borne on the leaves ( see below)

The behaviour of inhabitants of the earth on the whole has followed a pattern of war and peace. There was an eara of tensions, then came era of freedom of thoughts, and now global warming.

To me earth is global living entity with its own identity in the solar system. Man made political boundaries apart the human behaviour globally has followed a pattern of war and peace, happiness and sorrow, plentiful to droughts, haves to have nots in a cyclic manner. According to Japanese proverb things come in pair, joy will always be followed by sadnes .

I was admitted to one University and the oath University wanted to be filled by all the alumni and students included a sentence about switching off lights when not in use. I pondered a lot how switching off lights can reduce green house gases. One ad of a blue chip company in India says reduce use of paper and save trees.  News print is made of plants or plant residues.

Leaving aside those who dont believe in any religion most of the Global population is aligned to 4 or 5 religions mainly based on continents or group of coutries or pursue some kind of mythology or dictats. What makes a man to be fanatic ?
My question is why does a man needs to be attached to a religion ? A new cult started by individuals in India in different names of baba , or swami, or some mata, or bhakti cult , or persons like guru have vast followings.
Why does a man go out to look for solace in religion or guru or yoga or religious places of worship ? What is the psychological reason to look for happiness in others approval of oneself ?
Why does a man look for solace in some kind of religious preachings instead of confining himself to ideals and ideas of self .
Earth is  hundreds of billions of year old and a set of plants and animals are found in different periods . Man is the latest creation of nature or God or some supernatural or natural power which remians to be defined.
In every continent where ever man arose first time and started to learn to use fire there was some kind of imagination of God . God of air , God of water, God of fire, even God for life , God for death Indian mythological theories even assume 33 koti or 330 million Gods ? (Perhaps that might be population of human kind on the earth at that time).
Religion came next to the God or religions invented their own supernatural powers whom they called as God .
