Smith Teaches ViennaLaw, July 28, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Stuart H. Smith, J.D. '86, a major Loyola University New Orleans supporter and New Orleans attorney who excels in fighting corporate oil and gas abuses, including the recent Deepwater Horizon catastrophe in the Gulf of Mexico, will be a featured instructor at the Loyola University Summer International Environmental Law Program at the University of Vienna Law School.

The two-week focus on environmental law began July 20 and ends July 30. Mr. Smith's sessions this week will focus on environmental issues and radiation, as well as the current oil crisis impacting the Gulf Coast.

The Loyola Summer Environmental Law program is directed by Markus Puder, Ph.D., associate professor of law. Puder teaches comparative, Civil and Roman law; environmental and energy law; and public international law and the law of the European Union. He has previously been employed in the Environmental Science Division of Argonne National Laboratory, a U.S. Department of Energy laboratory, while holding lectureships at the Georgetown University Law Center and the George Washington University School of Law.

In 2008, Mr. Smith, a College of Law graduate, pledged a US$1.25 million gift to the College. Part of the pledge was dedicated to recently begun renovations to the Dominican Conference Center, which will eventually house existing offices from the College of Law, including the Stuart H.
