I am an experimental particle physicist working with the CMS experiment at CERN. In my spare time I play chess, abuse the piano, and aim my dobson...

Just a quick link to allow you to browse a very nice set of pictures taken at CERN by Andri Pol. The subjects are physicists in their daily activities - brainstorming at the blackboard, cycling around the lab, bitching about the mess in the common coffee room, or working at various pieces of hardware:
you can see them here. Enjoy!

I enjoyed those.  In the first one, the background of mountains reminded me of the few days I spent at the ESRF (European Synchrotron Radiation Facility) at Gratianopolis (Grenoble).

The title “L’insolito mondo dei cacciatori di particelle” immediately reminds me of the heading “Coro di Cacciatori” in an opera — but then, isn’t your latest item entitled The Hunt for the Higgs?

Well, the metaphor is quite used in the popularization of particle physics...

    Cheers,
