Tangential Science: It isn't necessarily science, but it's still funny.

1. Want a business card made out of meat and lasers? You're in luck! Meat Cards is having a contest to win one. All you have to do is recreate a classic Frank Frazetta poster and you can win, you guessed it, a meat card, which is basically beef jerky with laser writing on it.   I kind of wish I had thought of this first.

So "what's the catch?" you are thinking, "I will just photoshop in my old Molly Hatchett album covers and win big".   Not so.   The Frazetta recreations have to be done using real people.  And a camera.   So you can see below, it isn't all that easy.   I can be Darkwolf, no problem, but I will have trouble finding the girl.

2. In a landmark civil rights victory for women and men of all colors and creeds, the sports and recreation committee of Malmo, Sweden, the nation’s third-largest city, ruled that women at public pools should not be discriminated against for going topless.  Like the Frazetta re-enactment above, I am likely prohibited from Malmo, Sweden.

3. Want to know what a $138 million photograph looks like?    Sonar Technician (Surface) 1st Class Ronald Dejarnett snapped this picture of an F-22 Raptor doing a supersonic flyby over the carrier USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74).   Let's hope it's not so easy for the bad guys.

4.  The guys at CollegeHumor.com did an homage to modern social media in classic musical fashion, called Web Site Story.  I don't need to tell you any more than that, right? They seem to have left us out but that's okay, I had never heard of them before either.

5. Last but not least, Cracked.com shows us 7 Man-Made Substances that Laugh in the Face of Physics. Who knew my Genesis V6 ferrofluid-cooled speakers from the 1970s were so ... cool? Not me. Well, okay, definitely me, because if there's no distortion I can pretty much push a lightning bolt through them and none of you Bose wussies can say that. But I don't know how to make speakers using non-Newtonian fluids so maybe Cracked can teach you something too.
