In the beginning, Mother Nature created the universe and in it she put Quantum Mechanics.

Mother Nature had formed out of the ground all the wild particles in the sky. She brought them to Quantum Mechanics to see what Quantum Mechanics would name them; and whatever Quantum Mechanics called each thing, that was its name.  But it was not enough.

Then Mother Nature said, “It is not good for quantum mechanics to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for her.” And so she created Relativity and a classical garden in which they could live.

But the serpent Electromagnetism was more crafty than any of the wild particles Mother Nature had made. He said to Relativity, “If the universe is you and Quantum Mechanics, the number of elementary particles must be doubled" and this was confusing. Electromagnetism offered him fruit from an anti-matter tree in the forbidden part of the garden, to help them while they thought, and Relativity shared and it was good.

Once Relativity had tasted the fruit from the anti-matter tree, he had a realization; he was naked and so was Quantum Mechanics. Then Mother Nature came to visit and they hid in the cosmic microwave background and Mother Nature asked why and Quantum Mechanics answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.”

And Mother Nature said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the anti-matter tree that I commanded you not to eat from?”

Quantum Mechanics replied, “That Relativity you put here with me — he gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.”

Then Mother Nature said to Relativity, “What is this you have done?”

Relativity said, “The serpent Electromagnetics deceived me, and I ate.”

Mother Nature replied, "You do not see the peril you have wrought; meaningless infinities, negative probabilities and mathematical inconsistencies; an infinite "self-energy" of the electron..."

And so Quantum Mechanics and Relativity proposed the idea of Supersymmetry to put things right again, and Mother Nature laughed: "Are we here to talk about physics or are we here to screw around?"
