Alcohol is a class of organic compounds with -OH (hydroxyl) group attached to the hydrocarbon chain.  The hydrocarbon chain got its hydroxyl group through replacement of its hydrogen.

Among the many alcohols in the class, ethyl alcohol or ethanol is the alcohol in your alcoholic beverages: in table wines (10-13%), beers (4-5%), and distillled liquors (30% up).
Ethanol can be prepared through fermentation of sucrose and starches. It can also be prepared synthetically from ethene with the aid of a catalyst.
There is a researcher within us just waiting to be unleashed.

Being good according to Webster's Universal Dictionary and Thesaurus (2005) means having the right and proper qualities.  If these qualities are needed to achieve certain objectives, then success is a consequence of being good. That is, a good researcher should possess the right
and desirable properties or qualities in order to succeed in his researches.

A reading activity on the Digestion of Carbohydrates

By Camilo Apita Tabinas

I would like to share this method of teaching the topic on digestion of carbohydrates. This worked with my students. You may wish to try it with your students.

Time allotted and criteria for grading the students outputs are left for the teacher to decide as students may differ from class to class.

Teaching details:

1. the teacher discusses with the students the anatomy of digestion (including the hormones involve), the roles of enzymes, and the differences between brush border enzymes and other enzymes of digestions.
There are things or entities in or on an object that could be present and be proven to exist by experiments and yet one can not see because they are too small to be seen by our naked eyes or some cannot be seen at all. Examples are viruses, bacteria, molecules, ions, atoms, forces, forms of energy, etc.

People of long ago, at around 5th century B.C., a Greek Philosopher named Leucippus thought that water has an ultimate particle that cannot be subdivided. His idea was later expanded by his student, Democritus who named these possible indivisible particles as “atomos”. From there, scientists tried to experiment in order to verify its existence and farther they go into figuring out how ”atomos” looks like.

DEAR GENERAL CHEMISTRY TEACHERS by CAMILO APITA TABINAS:

GOOD DAY! I am pleased to introduce to you "Naming and Writing Simple Inorganic Chemical Formulas Text and Module with Worksheets", a book that offers an alternative method of teaching chemical nomenclature.
