ST. JOHN'S, Canada, September 28, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Rutter Inc. announced that Canadian based Rutter Technologies, a division of Rutter Inc. , has now received official notification from the Norwegian Clean Seas Association (NOFO) confirming that its Sigma S6 Oil Spill Response Radar is compliant with the NOFO standard.

The NOFO Standard applies to the design of and the equipment carriage requirements for oil spill response vessels operating on the Norwegian Continental shelf and is quickly becoming internationally accepted. Carriage of oil spill detection radar having particular performance characteristics is one of these requirements. As previously announced in a Company press release dated June 16, 2010, Rutter's system proved itself as an effective tool for automatic detection, outlining, and tracking oil spills, meeting all of these requirements when slaved off standard navigation radar.

As a detection system, Rutter's Sigma S6 Oil Spill Response Radar proved itself in the first and subsequent trials, outperforming other competing systems also undergoing testing. Representing the culmination of a two year development program, the successful implementation and testing of the automatic detection, outlining, and tracking algorithm was the final step in achieving NOFO compliance. With this certification, Rutter's system is one of only two systems in the world currently meeting this standard.
