Richard Mankiewicz, our man in Bangkok, also known as Red Man (see his profile – no no, not because of Bangkok’s red light district - that would be Stickman, not Red Man!) has started a Math Puzzle Column on Science2.0, first entry: Circles Stuck in a Triangle.

Howard Blume over at “looseendsdotme” in Assisted Suicide for Jumpers provides us with a strange article on my Suicidal Philosophy (which is as yet largely unpublished for reasons that should be obvious).

There was an old man and a second, older man who was considerably older than the old man; they were visiting a very old man.  The afternoon passed without them saying a word.  As the sun was low already, the old man said slowly: “I didn’t expect that I would come to think like this.”

The older man slowly took a deeper breath, just barely audible to the other two old men, looked further into the distance and replied: “Yes.”

Light which triggers predominantly the so called L-cones, which are photoreceptors for long (L) wavelengths, trigger us to experience red color.  In this sense, some people hold the color red to be physical and “out there” in “reality”.

A century ago, “past” and “future”, previously strictly apart, mixed up and merged.  Temporal terminology improved.  Today, not actualized quantum states, that is merely “possible” alternatives, objectively “exist” (are real) when they interfere.  Again, two previously strictly immiscible realms mix.

Lubos Motl is an acquaintance of mine, a high functioning idiot savant whose considerable abilities in juggling mathematics and its application to merely theoretical physics contrast an obvious lack in grasping truly complex systems (say those with uncertainty about meaning or due to deception), a lack that is so severe, it not just makes Lubos a social misfit (which is fine by me), but it even taints his intuition about physics, as for example evidenced by his misinterpretations of certain quantum mechanics papers that did not claim what he claims they claim.  He could be a leading physicis
